The Business EXPO has undergone some small changes this year but will continue to feature booth space for 50 chamber member exhibitors and the popular Collin County Chambers Business After Hours. Katrina Relief in Collin County
There are several efforts underway in Collin County, including those by our Allen Community Outreach, to assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina. A list of the organizations offering assistance will soon be posted on the Chamber's website at www.allenchamber.com. We will try to keep the list updated on various needs as they arise. Chase Oaks Hosts Chamber Tournament

Plans for the Chamber's 18th Annual Golf Classic, title sponsored by Community Credit Union, are almost complete! And, we are pleased to announce that this year's event will be held at our city-owned golf course - Chase Oaks Golf Club. Our golf committee, chaired by Dr. Richard Bush, and staff of Chase Oaks have many exciting events planned as part of this year's tournament including a Tee-Off party on Monday evening, October 3rd at 6:30 p.m. Putting and driving contests, and live aucton featuring sports memorabilia and other great items will be held during the Tee-Off Party! The tournament, a Florida Scramble, will be held on Tuesday, October 4th. Registration will open at 9:00 a.m. with a shotgun start at 12 Noon. A Million Dollar Hole-in-One Shootout will be held following the tournament for those who qualify. Hole and contest sponsors as well as door prize, auction and goody bags donors are still needed. Millennium Awards Luncheon
Tuesday, September 13, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
The Millennium Awards luncheon, presented by the Allen Economic Development Corporation and co-sponsored by the Allen Chamber of Commerce and Inside Collin County Business, will recognize businesses and individuals who have contributed greatly to Allen's continuing economic growth. Deadline to register for the luncheon is Friday, September 9, 2005. Winners of the Millennium Business Awards will be presented in these categories: National Corporate/Manufacturing (50+ employees); Local Independent business (less than 50 employees); Retail/Service (50+ employees); and one individual.

Leadership Allen Class XVII Recruitment Underway
September 15, 2005 Deadline
Leadership Allen, now in its 17th year, is currently recruiting members for the upcoming class. A nine-month community awareness and leadership development program, will kick-off with an overnight retreat and ropes course on September 30 - October 1, 2005. The remaining sessions will include information, tours and speakers addressing city and county government, education, health and human services, quality of life, economic development and a full day of leadership training with the Metroplex's most dymanic instructors. Overall there are two reasons for this crisis. First is a lack of federal funding. The second major issue is the state diverting highway funds to other departments and agencies.
