Collin County Economic Summit
Business and community leaders interested in the future of local economy will get a preview at the 2004 Collin County Economic Summit scheduled for March 30. This year, the event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a luncheon keynote address by Dr. Steve H. Murdock followed by two rounds of breakouts and a wrap up session. The Economic Summit will take place at Collin County Community College District’s Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano.

Chamber's Position on Local Option Election
In September the Board of Directors of the Allen Chamber unanimously passed Resolution 02-03 in support of the effort to place on the ballot proposals to allow beer and wine sales in local grocery stores and to eliminate the private club requirements for Allen restaurants.

Local Option Election Remarks

As you may be aware, there is currently an effort underway to include on the May 15 local election ballot two propositions that would allow for the legal sale of beer and wine in the City of Allen. One proposition would allow for the sale of alcohol in restaurants thereby eliminating the existing "club" requirements. The other proposition would allow for the sale of beer and wine in grocery and convenience stores.

Leadership Allen Happenings

Curves for Women has recently moved into their expanded facility at 107-B N. Greenville (next to Cindy's School of Dance). They will celebrate with a ribbon cutting and re-opening on Monday, January 12, 2004 at 5:15 p.m. They are offering Chamber members a sign up fee of $29 (regular price is $149).
Barb Granados of Lattes on Location recently opened Coffee Dreams, located at 1314 W. McDermott #140.
Mike Mason, DDS is beginning his 26th year in business in Allen.
Strasburger & Price, LLP will open its Collin County office during the first quarter of 2004 in Frisco. One of the largest firms in Texas, Strasburger will be the first major law firm in the country to have a presence in Collin County's rapidly developing business community.
