Business Appreciation Week
The Chamber will once again sponsor the annual Business Appreciation Week from September 15 - 19, 2003. The Allen Economic Development Corporation will host the annual Millennium Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, September 16, 2003. Reservations are $20 and can be made at 972-727-5585. The Chamber will sponsor the Business EXPO on Thursday, September 18, 2003. A Collin County Business After Hours mixer will immediately follow the EXPO.

Millennium Awards Luncheon
The Allen Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) will recognize outstanding businesses at the annual Millennium Business Awards Luncheon in September. In its fifth year, the award is the highest honor the AEDC bestows on Allen companies that promote excellence in business and contributing back into the community. An individual who has contributed time and effort to the advancement of economic development in Allen is also recognized.

New Teacher Reception
The Chamber's annual New Teacher Reception was the most successful in the three-year history of the event. Approximately 175 new teachers and administrators attended the event on Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at the Hilton Garden Inn. The event was co-sponsored by The Dallas Morning News, WFAA - The Spirit of Texas and the Hilton Garden Inn.

The inaugural quarterly W.I.S.E. luncheon was held on Thursday, July 31st at the Hilton Garden Inn with over 25 business women attending. W.I.S.E. is a new program created to reach out to female members of the Chamber and to empower women to become better leaders.

Clean Air Coalition
As the Metroplex heads into the height of an ozone season already marked by near record levels of air pollution, the North Texas Clean Air Coalition (NTCAC) is challenging every driver to “Try Parking It” at least once during August and instead ride the bus or rail, carpool, vanpool, bike, walk or telecommute.

2003 America Heart Walk The American Heart Walk is an annual 5K non-competitive walking event designed to bring public awareness to physical activity and a heart-healthy lifestyle, while at the same time, raise the critical dollars needed t fund the live-saivng mission of the American Heart Association. Walkers from all over Texas come out to support the fight against our nation's leading cause of death - heart disease. The walk begins at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2003.
