Mong, Jr., President of The Dallas Morning News. Mr. Mong has been instrumental in building and shaping news coverage at The Morning News during a time of extraordinary change and improvement at the paper. The News won six Pulitzer Prizes in the last 12 years Mong was at The News.

The Moving Wall Comes to Allen

The Moving Wall of Allen, Inc. is bringing The Moving Wall to Bethany Lakes Park in Allen, May 24 through May 30, 2003. The Moving Wall of Allen, Inc. provides the opportunity for the community to pay their respects to the memory of those who lost their lives during the Vietnam War.

"Catch The Spirit" of Allen ISD

The Allen Independent School District invites you to attend the 2003 Job Fair. Staff members will be accepting applications and interviewing for elementary and secondary level teaching positions for the 2003-2004 school year. Allen ISD is also seeking applicants for paraprofessinal, food service, bus driver and other support positions for next year. No appointment is necessary. COMMUNITY CORNER
Spelling Bee to Benefit Student and Teacher Scholarships
The Foundation for Allen Schools, along with the Allen/Lovejoy PTAs, will sponsor "BEE for Education", a spelling bee that will support student and teacher scholarships at Allen Independent School District.

The event will be held on Tuesday, April 1 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Allen High School Cafeteria.  Tickets are available for $10 and include a full course dinner.  Reserved tables for 8 are available for $100 and also include dinner.  Tickets can be purchased at any Allen ISD campus or at the Administration Building.  For more information, please call the BEE Information Hotline at 972-727-0362.

Collin County Committee on Aging
The month of March is dedicated to increasing the awareness of the nutritional needs of the frail elderly of Collin County.  "March for Meals" coin collection drive can truly change lives with your change.  We ask you to collect donations from your schools, churches, scout groups, businesses or neighbors.  Put a container on your desk or counter for employees to contribute.  You can contact the Collin County Meals on Wheels at 972-562-6996 for more information.
 
Heard Museum
5th annual Kite Celebration Weekend on March 15 & 16.  Kite flying, Trick Kite demonstrations, Kite Making, Picnics, Guided Trail walks, children's activities.

"It's a Bloomin' Mystery" Nature Puppet Show, March 18-22.  Brightly colored puppets take about 30 minutes to tell the story about a trip into the garden and what the characters find - or don't find - there.
