Luminaria Ceremony Honors Cancer Survivors and Those Who Have Lost the Battle
A special luminaria ceremony held during the American Cancer Society Relay For Life - Allen remembers those lost to cancer and honors those who have survived in a special event to take place at Allen High School Practice Field on May 7, 2004, at 7 PM. Luminaria candles will be lit at 9PM to represent those being remembered or honored. After this ceremony, all those who are or have been caregivers of cancer patients will be honored with a victory lap.
Relay For Life brings numerous groups and individuals concerned about cancer together in a unified effort to fight back. Former and current cancer patients, their families, businesses, civic organizations, and the public are invited to take part in this exciting team event. This "celebration of life" takes place from 7PM May 7 until 6AM May 8th at the Allen High School Practice Field.
Relay For Life is a family-oriented event where participants enjoy the camaraderie of a team and also raise funds to support the activities of the American Cancer Society. Participants camp out at the Relay site and when they are not taking their turn walking or running, they take part in fun activities and enjoy local entertainment.
Allen cancer survivors kick off Relay For Life at 7 PM with the first official lap; then the rest of the participants join the fun.
