ACO YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD TO HOLD FAJITA DINNER

The ACO Youth Advisory Board (YABS) will hold their annual fajita dinner on Thursday evening, March 25th, at First United Methodist Church in Allen from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m.  Cost is $12/Adults; $6 children 12 and under.  Take out will be available.  Proceeds support the YABS community service projects.

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION LUNCHEON FEATURES FILM CRITIC, GARY COGILL

Join us for a day "at the movies" as we lunch with Celebrity and Film Critic, Gary Cogill.  This year's Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon is planned for Wednesday, April 14th at the Hilton Garden Inn, beginning at 11:30 a.m.  Sponsors for this year's luncheon are Zurich North American and the Hilton Garden Inn.  If you would like to be a sponsor, donate a door prize, or reserve a seat, call Marjorie Vaneskahian at 972-727-9131 or email Marjorie at Marjorie@acocares.org.

START TRAINING FOR SPRINGFEST

Get those walking shoes out from the back of your closet and start your training for ACO's annual Springfest Fun Run coming up on May 1, 2004 at Presbyterian Hospital of Allen.  And again, for the third year, Presbyterian Hospital of Allen is the Signature Sponsor.   And if walking and running isn't your "thing," remember - we need lots of volunteer help!!!

6TH ROUTE ADDED TO MEALS-ON-WHEELS

ACO has begun a 6th Meals-On-Wheels route.  We need you to help us fill this new Orange Route, as well as our 5 other routes!  If you can volunteer for a route, which takes about an hour of your time per day, please contact Lucretia Wheat at 972-727-9131 to sign up.

HELP US FILL OUR CARE & SHARE CLOSET AT ACO

Many families depend each month on the assistance they get from ACO, including groceries and items from the Care & Share Closet.  Items in the Care & Share Closet include snack foods and quick-fix foods for families to take home when they can't get to the Food Pantry, and paper products, baby items and toiletries not available at the Food Pantry.  By helping families with these expenses, they can apply their funds to other bills, car payments, etc.  You can help by providing items for the closet.  Much needed items include:  Size 5-6 diapers, toilet tissue, laundry detergent, toothpaste, canned meats, breakfast cereal, paper towels, and plastic grocery sacks!

Remember, supporting United Way means supporting ACO.  Allen Community Outreach United Way Designation code is 201.
