In addition to an evening of fun, auctions and entertainment, Celebrate Allen recognized business and community leaders for their contributions to the Chamber, Allen's non-profit organizations and the community as a whole.
Last year, event organizers added two additional opportunities to recognize exemplary service to the community through the
Community Partner Awards…a major corporation or major employer category and an individual or small business category were added. These businesses or individuals were chosen by representatives from the non-profit community for their support of programs and organizations that work for the betterment of Allen. The Community Partner Award – Major Business Category was presented to
Presbyterian Hospital of Allen and the Community Partner Award – Small Business or Individual was presented to
Mike Overton, D.V.M. The
Spirit of Allen is awarded annually to an individual or group exemplifying the positive spirit at work within the Allen community. The award is granted in recognition of activities which promote civic pride, an action which places service to others above and/or and event which demonstrates the strength, energy and resourcefulness of Allen, Texas
. John & Georgie Green were named as recipients of the 2002 Spirit of Allen Award.
The
Pacesetter Award is granted in recognition of activities which: increase participation and membership in the Chamber; provide leadership, guidance and direction to the Chamber; and/or for service in promoting activities which sustain and nurture the Allen Chamber of Commerce. The Pacesetter Award was presented to
Izzie & Perry Waller.
